Introducing Amazing Paper Grace Picot Petite Collection

Amazing Paper Grace has gone back to her roots with classic sewing inspired motifs! Introducing the Picot Petite Collection!

Becca Feeken sent over these lovely dies for me to try.

Over time we’ve had lace-inspired designs and have loved the feel of Hemstitching and Candlewicking. Reminiscent of needlework and treasured handwork proudly displayed, Becca Feeken has developed another classic line of layering shapes that feel so much like tatting or picot crochet.  As you might imagine, these shapes are crisp, clean, and timeless. Whether you are simply adding a classic layer to a card or cutting an aperture to highlight a lovely sentiment – these shapes mix and match with other sewing inspired motifs as well as intricate backdrops.

Today you’re in luck! Our Creative Team is sharing makes from the Picot Petite Collection.

Classic Shapes are Timeless

With each Classic Collection, Amazing Paper Grace creates the most popular die-cutting shapes in oval, round, square, and rectangles. Moreover, these classic shapes mix and match with Hemstitch Classics, Candlewick Classics, Elegant Twist Classics, and now Picot Petit.

The Inspiration behind Picot Petite

If you’ve ever seen tatting, the little loop produced along the edge is called a “picot”.  It’s this little loop that is the basis for the border on all of the Petite Picot shapes.  They are lovely as a backdrop for any other layerings as the little picot peeks out.  It’s just a subtle way to bring in the ways of classic needlework to give texture and dimension to the backdrop of our cards.

Each of our Creative Team members will show you their take on cards made with a classic picot flair.

My Projects For Today

Am happy to introduce Spellbinders S5-433 Picot Petite Oval Etched Dies

I have created a Easel card for this hop. I have used the largest die for the cardbase and smallest one as a stopper. Layered the front panel with the larger and medium die to adorn the card with Handmade flowers.

Die cut the florals in white cardstock, colored them using Distress ink and spritzed slightly with water to shape them.

To make this tiny basket, took the largest oval die and placed at middle of scoring board (6″). Look for the centre and scored 2 lines on either side. Turned around the die-cut and did the same procedure. Cut at scored lines as shown. Fold it to make basket as shown in the image. Placed an oval die-cut for little interest. This tiny basket can be used to fill with little treats and flowers.

Here is the Spellbinders video showing amazing new samples as well as a walkthrough of the entire collection.

Layered Love Card

Dear Friends!
“Very Happy Valentine’s Day to all”
Am back today with a  Layered Love card. Was inspired by soft delicate shades and the gold colors and so incorporated it into the card.
Its a pretty mix of pattern papers with Gold polka dots and bold polka prints. Diecut a front panel and layered over a peach shade pp.
The focal cluster is mounted on a resin frame with few diecut flourishes, diecut leaves and pretty mix of florals.
Big bold red resin floral heart added as a pretty addition.
Crocheted lace with a floral cabochon and a white embossed vellum butterfly  are added with a word embellies.
A small wooden tag is distressed and the sentiment is added from Inspired by stamping.
Few clear droplets, peach pearls are added as final touches.

Beachy Theme Canvas

After almost a month, am back to crafting and blogging today.

Today’s post is about a Beachy theme Mixed media canvas of size 9″x12″. Its my 3rd canvas and this is the larger one so far of what i did. Am just a newbie in this area of art and all your comments are much appreciated to improvise me 🙂

This is created using a wonderful moodboard at Scrap Around The World blog. Its my ever first time participating in their challenge 🙂

Its filled with such mesmerising colors and elements.

The things which caught my heart is the lovely shades of blue colors, rope, natural elements, and the quote. And so made Lost in Love canvas.

Following moodboard from 13arts is also my inspiration for the canvas, Teal, Turquoise are my fav colors and roses, dewdrops, beads are my elements in moodbaord, which caught my eyes. First time participating here 🙂

Took a primed canvas and applied texture paste using TimHoltz Bubble stencil and misted generously with Electric blue Mist and heat set it. Stamped the waves from Kaisercraft Offshore stamp set on to a thick white cardstock and fussy cut out that. Matted these on the stenciled area and so the focal point is the pic of us taken in Amping Beach, Taiwan. Made a Raffia knotted heart and kept in the pic to add little focus.

Added MDF flourishes which are primed with acrylic white and few flowers and swirls for bit interest.Sprayed Glimmer Mist Blue sheen around the focal image. Added a bottle cap filled with teeny tiny natural elements and sealed it with glossy accents.

Added blue microbeads at few places and flicked black soot distress ink. Added a wood veneer on a heart diceut at a corner of the canvas.

Finally a computer generated quote – Lost in Love added.

Hope you like it! Leave some comments as it means a lot to me.

Creative Blog Hop and a Canvas – First Ever Try :)

Thank You Bhavana for nominating me for this Creative Blog Hop. It helps to know a little more about the artists and their interests.

So…Little about me…

1. What are you working right now ?

Working on a card right now in my craft space and few pending project works going on.

2. How does your work differ from others of your genre?

My card making style much inclined towards pastel shades, shabby chic and vintage kind. I love to make my own handmade florals using various dies and so my cards are florally embellished always 🙂

3. Why do you create and what you do?

Am an MPhil graduate in Toxicology and have a pulsating desire to do my PhD. Right now, SAHM of a naughty little fella, who keeps me on toes always. Learnt classical dance, veena and carnatic music, but only being in this crafter community, made me to enjoy my life amidst of my regular mundane.

4.How does your creative process work?

To me..inspirations are everywhere and in everything. It depends on the eyes of beholder.
To inspire and to be inspired by.. is my motto always.

Thats all from me!

Love to nominate two other talented crafter pals who excels in their own line. Love to know a bit more about you guys. Hope you love to continue the chain 🙂

And coming to my First ever Canvas. Done bit of Mixed media kind style. Rest left to you to comment.

Today is my little one’s 6th birthday and wanted to add my fave pic which we took on his 10th month at a tour at Macau near Hong Kong at 2010 New year 🙂

Very Happy Birthday Adithya 🙂

Its a 5×7 mini canvas and i gessoed down initally. Then took DCWV Luxury stack pp which has a metallic and pearlised sheen on it. Love this stack for its richess and elegance. Took the one with little blue shades and baby pink shades and light brown scrolls.

Then its pasted on the canvas using Modpodge Matt and again gessoed down to tone down the color and to pick up the mists.

Added the handmade blooms which are gessoed down and sprayed with Glimmer mist blue and diamond dust sprinkled on it edges.

The metal embellishments are Prima junkyards and the diecut Bundle of joy is distressed with Tumbled glass DI. My new stash, Tim holtz Elegant florishes are diecut from kraft CS and gessoed down a bit and added near the pic. Few CLD ivy florish leaves are diecut and their edges are distressed with tumbled glass DI . Few ink splatters in black, blue and few blue pearls to finish off.

Hope you like my attempt!

Winter Wonderland

Love this season especially for the Snowflakes… and wanted to create a winter scene with the dies on hand.

This time took Cheerylynn Snowflakes die and used it on a winter scene. Hope you like it!

Here we go,

Matted Spellbinders curved rectangles on blue and white base cardstocks. The front panel is tore and roughed at its edges. Stamped my new Kaisercraft Woodgrain stamp in White embossing powder and slightly sponged with Vintage photo DI to mimic the frosty look on trees. MS sprig punch is used to added to create the frosty look of leaves on tree trunk.

A small diecut of same die is used to create a mini scene for the sentiment which says “Let it Snow”. Masked the area and sponged with Tumbled glass and Broken China DIs and stamped the sentiment. And on the lower part on the word, “Snow” and around it added Diamond dust twinklets to create a frosty look.

And this is mounted on the front panel and to it added the Memory box Deer Trio diecut (a new addition to my craft stash), which is sponged on edges with vintage photo to give a defined look.
The deer family in kept on the snow which is created on base of the front panel.

And now the CLD snowflakes diecuts are taken, sponged with tumbled glass DI and added on the entire winter wonderland.

Hope you like this attempt.
