Quilled Love Floral Frame :)

After a long gap, made a Quilling frame with sheer love for spring colors and the freshness it brings to one’s mind 🙂

Its a 12″ frame and the one i submitted for UK Quilling Guild Annual Meet at Sherborne 2015 in September 19-20.

I have tried few color combinations and flower patterns, which i havent done earlier and my main idea is to have a collection of various flowers of different patterns.

As always, after my son’s birthday, saved the cake baseboard like last year and cut a 8 ” heart from it. Check here for last year cake base board. Wound the pollen sticks around it and pasted a heart diecut inside it to give a trellis look.

My all time favorite technique is fringed flowers which i made out of different sizes paper strips and few used as centres and few used as individual flowers even. The fact i love the most is its hand fringed 🙂

And all the flowers are made using sewing needle and this makes the central hole less prominent. Its my second big floral frame using needle as quilling tool. 3mm strips were used for the whole project, which includes graduated strips, solid colors, two tone color strips etc., And almost all techniques are included here such as Alternate side looping, Marquise, Tear drop shape, Triangle shape, Heart shape, Open loop coils, Closed loop coils, Tight coils, multistrips scrolls, fringing etc.,

Flowers are stuck on the heart chipboard base using hotglue gun and found it so very convenient to give shaping as i wished for.

Made a Monarch butterfly for second time and its one of my fave color combination to work with for the butterfly. Check here for my earlier version of monarch butterfly.

Hope you like it. As always, i just love all your comments, its a real boost for any artist to pursue their passion 🙂

Wintery Starry Night :)

Hi Crafty peeps,

Today’s card is a song inspired one. So straight away to the card.

Loads of crazy inking and embossing went into this card. As the sentiment says…..and one of my favorite song “All i want for Christmas is You” by Michael Buble.

Whenever i hear it…it just takes me to this kind of starry, snowy, wintery, christmassy feel…. and i tried to bring a bit of it, here for you.

Its a 5×7 card. Watercolor card is distressed with series of Distress inks from various shades of blue – tumbled glass, broken china, stormy sky.

Moon was made by masking it with circle post it note patch and the stars of various sizes are stamped with versamark and embossed with the Zing white opaque Embossing powder (Ep).

And i purposely avoided the antistatic bag to give those white snowy effect on the top of the card.

Bottom edges of card are smooshed with versamark pad and embossed with Zing white opaque Ep.

Couple diecut from black cs is added to the scene.

Sentiment is Dymo label maker generated and the diecut You is from SSS, and its embossed with Wow baby blue glitter Ep.

This is matted with black cs to give defined look to the scene, followed by white base cs. And a heart pearl between them as final touch.

Hear it and see…Did the card resonating the same feel ?

Love to hear it from you all 🙂

Birthday Wishes!

Very Happy Birthday to Me 😀

Made this card to wish few friends who share my birthdate 🙂

Stamped the Swirls background stamp using versamark ink and heat embossed using White opaque EP. Then distressed with Green bough DI. Then using Spellbinders A2 matting basics, diecut corresponding mattings and again distressed the edges to give defined look.

Just to give dimensions to layers, using foam adhesive , stuck the outer layer and the mid layer just on the base cardstock. And the mid layer again stuck using the foam adhesive and IBS sentiment is stamped on a banner and distressed using Green bough DI.

The butterfly diecut is colored using colorbox pigment inks and embossed using UTEE clear EP and pink butterfly diecut using Zing baby pink glitter EP. Then vellum diecut butterflies were matted to soften the overall look.

Hope you like it!

Celebrate – MM Canvas

Exactly a month later, back to blogging!

Ya…been into Quilling and have just submitted my entries for UK Quilling Guild Accreditation. Hope will pass the standards as its gonna be judged by eminent panel of Quillers, who are into this art for more than 20 years.

Back again to MM canvas. Oh yeah, bitten by MM bug and slowly …learning the basics of it.

The colors and the quote from the Scrap around the world’s moodboard, is the inspiration for today’s work.

Took primed 8″x12″ canvas. Used spun sugar DI and TCW stencils- swirls and butterlfies for background.

The pic is actually a selfie, cropped and used as focal element here. Its matted with few prima pps. TH bubble stencil is used for the central portion and various mists ( Emerald purple, Crushed strawberry, Electric blue misteries) were sprayed liberally and heat set at every spray.

Few crochet flowers, foam flowers, TH swirl flourishes, cream lace, and a sentiment from simple stories paper pad.

Few stamping using kaisercraft chickenwire stamp and few random flicks of inks in black soot, crushed stawberry and few pearls as accents to finish off. Distresses the edges using rich cocoa momento.

Lulupu – Emphasised on feminine and used butterflies as stencilled bg and wood veneer butterfly)
